Planning
Character Bios
Character 1
Name: Sam Green
Age: 16
Role: Student
Description: Sam is a 16-year-old student applying for a Level 2 media course. He’s in his interview for the course with the head of Level 2, Mike Smith. He, however, isn’t prepared for the interview and lacks confidence, good-presentation and the correct knowledge to correctly answer questions.
Character 2
Name: Mike Smith
Age: 43
Role: Tutor
Description: Mike is the head of the Level 2 Media course, he is interviewing Sam for a position into the Level 2 course for the upcoming September. He, however, is not impressed by Sam’s responses to his questions and results in Sam not getting onto the course.
Character 3
Role: Commentator
Character 3 is not a prime role in the main scene but instead is green screened onto the video. She pauses the video to correct Sam’s errors in the interview and explains to the audience where he is going wrong, and what he should be doing to get onto the course. Example, bringing questions to the interview.
For the interview drama we split up the paperwork we were
asked to create between all the members of our team. I was given the tasks of
drawing the storyboard and writing the character bios. I did achieve both of
these tasks and remembered to scan both of them into the computer; however,
other pieces of documentation were lost due to the changing over of paperwork. What
is displayed above is the only remaining documentation from our drama we have. Our
storyboard is as detailed as we could make it so that the team who produced out
video could understand what was going to happen. Unfortunately in our planning
and pre-production we were unable to produce a script by time we had to swap
paperwork, therefore the process of making our video would be more challenging
for the other team as the main piece of plot device we have for idea was unable
to be presented for creation. On production day I did quickly try to produce
notes as a script to help as much as I could to create a better guide for the
idea we wanted to be made. However, feedback from the team who produced our
work said this script did not help as much as they would have liked and they
still felt lost when making this project. They did however; say the storyboard I
provided was useful and gave them a better idea on what to make by it was
difficult to understand without the additional help of a script. Looking at
what I did I am happy with my paperwork I produced as I was the only member of
the team able to provide all the paperwork requested form me for production day
as I was able to help the production team as best I could with what needed to
be made.
Show Reel
We have been
given the task of creating a show reel for ourselves to demonstrate what skills
we have in the industry. For this I will be taking every video I can find that I
have been a part of and will be watching each one looking for the best clips
from every video. Using this I will match them up appropriately to a song in
the hopes of creating a fun entertaining video that grips the audience. The song
I have chosen for my show reel is “Charger” by indie band, Gorillaz. I chose
this song as it has a good pacing that isn’t too fast or slow. Another reason
for picking this song is it’s not too exciting, there’s no overly exciting instrumentation or anything that could distract the viewer from the footage being shown,
hopefully this will help my video appear more about the video and less like a music
video as I want the viewers to mainly focus on the video itself as oppose to the
music being plain, I want the song to compliment my work not outdo it. I will
be posting about my production and creating about this project on the “production”
page of this blog, after which will be a copy of the finished video available
to watch so the final product can be viewed and enjoyed after reading about its
creation. Finally I will be providing a evaluation of this video on my “Evaluation”
page where the viewer can see the reactions and feedback I got on my final
video where I look harder about the final product to understand where I could
potentially make improvements in the future.
