Interview with Pets At Home - Assistant manager
For this example I will be preparing for a job at Pets At Home as an assistant manager. To prepare for this role I had to do some research into what pets at home is like and the kind of people that work there. Following that I had to look into the role I wanted and how I would get ready for an interview for at position. I started by looking at the pets at home and discovering what their morals and culture stand for. To show what the company stands for I am going to provide two quotes from the website that demonstrate what the company stands for and how the business is run. “We are the UK’s leading pet care business, providing pet owners with everything they need to be able to look after their pet.” and “Our stores represent a unique environment and provide a practical, fun and unique experience for pet owners.” These quotes are just two examples of the morals pets at home stands for as well as an example of how the store is run. The general characteristics of the average worker are a happy character with experience with pet ownership. “A whopping 93% of Pets at Home Colleagues are pet owners!” This shows that to be able to apply for this role it would be beneficial to me to have experience with animals. As I do with my own pet hamster (see image 1), plus experience with other animals in the past. I think the role assistant manager would be fitting for me with the level of education I have and my experience with project management in class projects. The role is nothing to high on the business role however, will be a good entry level for me to gain more experience in management roles in careers. To dress appropriately for a interview for this position I would want to dress smart but with a twist. This could be a fun shirt and a skirt. This would show a more formal attire however, will make me stand out compared to other possible interviewees. I would also stand out as more of a character with a more interesting hairstyle and piercings. Which would give a bad impression in the job. However, in advertisements, other employees also have facial piercings, leaving me with the impression that my mildly alternative look would not compromise my opportunity at getting this job role (see image 2). To prepare me for a job I will be bringing in a copy of my own CV. This will help me if I do forget anything written on it if the employer chooses to ask about my previous experiences. I will also be bringing along at least 1 personal reference for the job by either a former peer or tutor from the college. I will also be sure to be prepared for the role by having a place for payment such as a bank account as well as having questions prepared to ask the employer in the interview. Doing all of this will help increase the odds of the interview going well and assuring me a position in the role I am applying for with this company.

3 Examples of Scenarios - Success, Unique, Problem Solving
A time I was successful in life was when I competed in the UK national competition known as World Skills. The competition takes place in Birmingham over the course of 3 days. I took part in the digital video production competition and my team won bronze. There were 3 members in my team including me as project manager, and my team mates Harry as camera operator and Tao as editor. I took the role of production manager and with our team work by team were able to fulfil the brief fully for the judgment day. The fact my team were able to achieve an award for this competition shows my strengths in team work and my ability to solve problems and puzzles presented to me. Also showing my ambition, as a team we were able to get to the finals and come in top 3 colleges of the UK, showing my motivation to do well in tasks given to me.

Give us an example of previous experience you have leading a team?
Back in November of 2018 I took part in a national UK competition known as world skills. I took part as a competitor in the digital video production competition, this took place at UEA located in Birmingham. I was in a team of 3 and took the role of project manager. We were given the task to create a promotional video for the skills show using a poem provide in the brief. We took the task seriously getting to work the second we were able to. the competition took place over the course of 3 days. As project manager, I had to guide the team and our idea making sure everything ran smoothly. I wrote and perfected a lot of the paperwork and research we provided along side the final video we created. our idea was to use the influence of the 2000s film Snatch. The intro for this film provided out main influence. To fit the poem into the video we had participants of the skills show read out paragraphs of the poem. Having the participants faces show the Snatch style title card. As project manager I found it stressful to deal with as we were under a strict time limit and we had a lot to do in that time. We were able to pull it off in the end however, if doing something like this project again I would try to manage our time better and try to provide more time for our editor as he had a lot to do in a short amount of time at the end and this resulted in our final video looking rushed.
Describe a time in your education you have had to work as part of team?
In early January of 2019, we started to work on a short project preparing for an interview, for this project I was in a team of 3 and it al took place in the college of west anglia. My role was not limited to 1 position as we had to help out in different areas. The task we were given to complete was a video that displays how to correctly involved a switch twice along the way. We started by making the pre-production for our idea and slept it up into 2 pieces go paperwork each. I took the job of creating the storyboard and character bios for this project. A week later we bought all of our paperwork together and swapped with another team. With the new batch of paperwork, we were given we were instructed to begin production with what we had from other groups. The point of this I to test our skills in pre-planning and paperwork to see if we could successfully tell an idea to someone who was not involved with the pre-production. From here we planned out our filming schedule and began production for the paperwork e had been given. Another week later we handed in a hard drive with all our recorded footage on it and swapped over for a 3rd time. From this swap we had to edit all the new footage we had not previously seen into a final video. we made an edit each, this section was not restricted to our teams. With this final product we swapped the edits over to the original teams so they could watch and see if the creation they got, was what they intended with their original idea. If we didn't get the video we envisioned back, we had to look at our pre-production closer to figure out where we had gone wrong with the planning. in my team we did not manage to hand in a full script, this made the telling on the story a lot more difficult to convey to the team who was working on production, therefore, the footage that as filmed and edited did not look like what we had originally envisioned. this project taught me a lot about the importance of pre-production and planning for a project as it is what shapes the main idea and is something everyone involved will have to say even if not being involved with the originally creation.
Have you ever made a project with an unsuccessful result?
In September of 2018 we were set with a project to create a milti-camera video, using more than 1 camera to film a project live then be edited either live or in post-production. In my project I had a cast of 4 people, this included me, a assistant camera opporator and 2 actors for set. We made this set my own home and filmed in my living room after adjusting furniture around to for the scene. I was the main person running this show so I took the most work with help from someone on filming day. My show was designed to be a online podcast talkshow, I had titled my show "Gag the Dog" the show was to feature 1 host guiding the show and 1 guest character. The plot of the show would be the host and guest talking about pet peeves and discussing events relating to those peeves. Towards the end of the guests time on the show they would decide out of the peeves spoken about which was worse and why. This project was unlike anything I had previously managed and I struggled to write a good enough script for the concept, following this I also struggled to set up everything with such a small crew behind me. This was my far my biggest fault on this set. There were alot of areas in this production that I would like to reconsider and try again given the chance to. I think I did well in this situation to pull it off. I did make a show and the script worked really well with what I was aiming to make. I found this project to be a really good learning opportunity about crew work and how to correctly execute a project with a crew. This would later reflect in my world skills work and other future team projects. If I was to do this again I would not be afraid to try getting a bigger crew to assist me in different areas of work and assist me further in production.

Name a time you have done something to better your own mental well-being within the past 6 months.
Back in October of 2018 I decided to get a pet hamster. This choice better helped me improve my own mental well-being. I chose a hamster due to my current life style being unfit for something larger such as a dog or cat. that being to due with my education and the space we have at home not being for for a larger animal. I made the choice of a hamster as they don't use up a lot of room and due to the fact they are relatively cheap to take care of. On the 30th of October 2018 after college me and a friend went to the Wisbech pets at home to pick up my small friend. I already knew a lot about hamsters having been interested in them for a long time and enjoying videos that feature them. having a small character in my life helped give me something to care and provide for. I named her mushroom and spend a lot of my evening bonding with her. She is very active when taken out of her cage, but not so active when inside as she likes to sleep a lot. This change in my life has provided a lot for me and has mad a noticeable difference in my mental health.
What personal interests do you have?
My personal interests other than my hamster include reading and and watching documentaries. I read a wide range of books both fictional and not. At the moment I am reading a book about aliens on earth. I find reading provides me with a lot of relaxation and comfort as the only thing they require is some time. I enjoy watching documentaries about almost anything. Having the opportunity to learn about the world and how things are portrayed has always been an interest to me. As I enjoy learning I am always willing to learn about the best care to provide any working environment I am presented with and have a strong ambition to be the best worker I can be for a job I am presented with.
